Start a second-hand shop: checklist without an expensive POS
A space, Zettle, consignment and Swish. What you actually need to open – without buying a full till before the first Saturday.
💡Viktige innsikter
- ✓Zettle as till, Serculate as consignment
- ✓Free until first sale – SEK 699/month after
- ✓Open with no lock-in and no POS swap
Starting a second-hand shop is more rent and assortment than a business plan. What stops people is the till: control unit, contracts, “which POS should I get?”.
Short answer: you need a certified cash register and a way to run consignment. You do not need Crona-level cost from day one.
Checklist before opening
1. Space and assortment Dare to be picky. Second-hand that takes everything drowns in unsold goods.
2. Cash register Zettle is enough for card and Swish. That is the till the customer meets.
3. Consignment If you do not buy all stock, every item must know its owner. Serculate does that. You or the seller register. Label. Sell in Zettle. Balance updates.
4. Payout Do not promise “we Swish on Monday” if Monday is three hours in online banking. Let the seller see the balance and request a payout. You approve.
5. Price versus risk Serculate is free until you sell. Then SEK 699/month. No lock-in. Rent is the big risk. The till should not be.
Open with Zettle + Serculate. Switch to a full POS the day the till is the problem – not consignment.
